JioCinema takes fresh guard for another digital powerplay with India's Tour of West Indies

After a tremendously successful season of IPL 2023, JioCinema is back with more cricket extravaganza with India’s Tour of West Indies 2023. The month-long series includes two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is – all of which will be free to watch on the streaming platform.

JioCinema already proved that digital is the future for live sports consumption with the record-breaking viewership numbers that it clocked during the IPL 2023. The India-West Indies series is expected to now set new benchmarks for an international bilateral series too.

The viewership numbers for bilateral series tend to dip on linear TV when compared to the IPL typically, but with free, unrestricted access anytime to the matches on digital, this behaviour is likely to change.

Like IPL, JioCinema has the potential to drive bilateral cricket consumption in a very different way. This is possible all the more because viewers will be able to watch the limited-overs action not just in English and Hindi, but a total of 11 languages that include Bhojpuri and Punjabi- a first for coverage of an India series.

The series is also expected to grab massive consumer attention across the country which can help advertisers fetch quick reach on JioCinema during the matches. The series comes at a time when the cricketing calendar is completely clutter-free, thus commanding the undivided attention of fans, and it also falls in the period which marks the beginning of India’s festive season. Consumer purchase intent is likely to be at an all-time high which effectively means along with wide reach, brands can tap into immediate purchase conversions too.

The all-format bilateral tour starts July 12 with the first Test in Dominica, followed by the second in Trinidad. The Test series will mark the beginning of India’s World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, while the three-match ODI series beginning July 27 will be played in Barbados and Trinidad, giving fans a glimpse of Team India’s preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup. The five-match T20I competition tips off in Trinidad on August 3, followed by two matches in Guyana and the last two fixtures in Florida, USA.
