GEC Watch: Star Plus returns to the top in urban markets; Zee Anmol continued to lead rural

As per BARC India data, the gap between Star Plus and Colors in the combined markets is about 18 million and this gap stands at five million in the urban markets

GEC Watch: Star Plus returns to the top in urban markets; Zee Anmol continued to lead rural

Star Plus reclaimed leadership in the urban markets and overtook Colors in the combined U+R markets, as per the viewership data of Week 32 (August 5-11). As per BARC India data, the gap between the two channels in the combined markets is about 18 million while the gap stands at five million in the urban markets.

Zee TV has gained on the back of three of its properties being in the top five shows list in the U+R and two in urban markets. The channel’s reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs has topped the chart in the two markets. The channel’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya is getting healthy viewership from both, urban and rural.

Zee Anmol continues to excel and has maintained its lead positions in the combined and urban markets.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 32 (August 5-11) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol and the elder sister channel Zee TV remained on the top two positions in the combined markets by garnering 665.948 million Impressions and 608.343 million Impressions, respectively. Star Plus climbed a spot to overtake Colors and to reach No. 3 to garner 586.614 million Impressions. Colors fell to No. 4 with 568.765 million Impressions, with a gap of mere 18 million from Star Plus. Sony Pal climbed to No. 5 with 556.217 million Impressions. Rishtey followed by garnering 492.683 million Impressions, to stand at No. 6. Sony SAB overtook its elder sibling to reach No. 7 with 409.668 million Impressions, while Sony Entertainment Television garnered 400.952 million Impressions, at No. 8 despite an increase in numbers. Life OK and Star Utsav trailed at No. 9 and 10 with 346.705 million Impressions and 304.324 million Impressions, respectively.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs topped the flock with 10.660 million Impressions, followed by channel’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya that stood at No. 2 in the top shows’ list in the combined markets with 10.498 million Impressions. Colors’ Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi came at No. 3 clocking 9.939 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya followed next with 9.383 million Impressions, while Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja entered the combined markets’ top five shows’ list at the end with 9.141 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Star Plus sprang back to the top with 399.274 million Impressions, with a gap of merely five million Impressions with Colors which slipped from the lead position. Colors slipped to the second spot garnering 394.085 million Impressions. Zee TV stayed at No. 3 position with 362.506 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 4 with 293.977 million Impressions, followed by Sony SAB that too stayed at No. 5 with 291.129 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 215.052 million Impressions. Sony Pal climbed to No. 7 with 158.009 million Impressions. &TV slipped back to No. 8 with 156.354 million Impressions. Zee Anmol stayed put at No. 9 position in urban markets with 143.898 million Impressions. Rishtey trailed at No. 10 with 123.516 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs stayed as the most watched programme in Week 32 with 7.365 million Impressions. Colors’ Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi too stayed put at No. 2 with 6.903 million Impressions, followed by the channel’s Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki with 6.134 million Impressions. Zee TV’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya gathered 5.847 million Impressions to come up at No. 4. At No. 5, Sony SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah clocked 5.780 million Impressions,

Top channels in Rural markets

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 522.050 million Impressions, while Sony Pal climbed on to No. 2 in rural markets with 398.208 million Impressions. Rishtey slipped to No. 3 garnering 369.166 million Impressions. Zee TV remained at No. 4 with 245.837 million Impressions. Star Utsav too stayed at No. 5 with 231.605 million Impressions, followed by its elder sibling Star Plus that climbed by a spot to reach No. 6 with 187.340 million Impressions. Big Magic came in next with 182.799 million Impressions. Colors slipped to No. 8 with 174.680 million Impressions. Life OK and Sony Entertainment Television trailed at No. 9 and No. 10 with 131.652 million Impressions and 118.539 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja became the most watched show in the rural markets with 7.267 million Impressions. Sony Pal’s Baalveer and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood next, garnering 5.277 million Impressions and 4.859 million Impressions, respectively. Zee TV’s spin off show Kundali Bhagya and Zee Anmol’s Kaala Teeka came in at the end at No. 4 and No. 5 with 4.650 million Impressions and 4.540 million Impressions, respectively.
