GEC Watch: Star Plus back on top in U+R and urban, Sony Pal leads rural

Star Plus is back on top in the urban and U+R markets and Zee TV slipped back to the third position, as per data released by BARC India for Week 21 (May 27-June 2). Sony Pal ruled the rural areas.

Sony’s popular reality show The Kapil Sharma Show is back in the top five programmes’ list for urban markets. Sony Pal’s three shows Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Baalveer and CID have been listed among the top shows in rural markets.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 21 (May 20-26) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Star Plus is back on the top spot with 648.274 million Impressions. Sony Pal also got back to the No. 2 clocking 591.764 million Impressions. Zee TV has slipped back to the third position with 528.060 million Impressions. Rishtey stayed at No. 4 (503.431 million Impressions), ahead of its elder sibling Colors which continued to be on No. 5 with 444.063 million Impressions. Zee Anmol was also at No. 6 with 424.279 million Impressions. At No. 7, Sony SAB garnered 413.475 million Impressions. Star Utsav, at No. 8, garnered 406.392 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was at No. 9 with 363.729 million Impressions, followed by Life OK at No. 10 with 316.085 million Impressions.

Top programmes in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (urban+rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya retained its lead with 10.626 million Impressions. Colors’ Naagin – Season 2 stayed at No. 2 with 9.177 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai at No. 3 garnered 8.475 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs stood at No. 4 with 8.379 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Namkaran at No. 5 garnered 7.206 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Star Plus retains its urban lead with 440.978 million Impressions. At No. 2, Zee TV stayed with 306.254 million Impressions. Colors continued to be on No. 3 with 298.458 million Impressions while Sony SAB maintained itself at No. 4 with 264.620 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television too remained at No. 5 with 264.556 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 201.474 million Impressions followed by Sony Pal which garnered 147.670 million Impressions. Rishtey rose by one spot to be at No. 8 with 127.743 million Impressions. &TV stood at No. 8 with 116.347 million Impressions followed by Star Utsav which came back to the top 10 at No. 10 with 100.483 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya has continued its lead in the urban markets with 5.947 million Impressions, followed by Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with 5.877 million Impressions. Colors’ Naagin - Season 2 rose to No. 3 with 5.382 million Impressions. At No. 4, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs climbed up by garnering 5.252 million Impressions. Sony’s The Kapil Sharma Show is back in the top five with 4.851 million Impressions.

Top channels in Rural markets

Sony Pal continued to lead rural markets garnering 444.094 million Impressions. Rishtey too remained on second position with 375.688 million Impressions and Zee Anmol stayed at No. 3 with 333.799 million Impressions. Star Utsav climbed up by one position to be at No. 4 with 305.909 million Impressions. Zee TV slipped to No. 5 with 221.806 million Impressions. Star Plus stood at No. 6 with 207.296 million Impressions while Sony SAB followed with 148.854 million Impressions. At No. 8, Colors garnered 145.604 million Impressions followed by Big Magic with 125.609 million Impressions. Life OK trailed at No. 10 with 114.611 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was on the top of the flock in the rural programme list by clocking 5.053 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja remained at the second spot in the rural programmes chart as it garnered 4.906 million Impressions.

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya with 4.677 million Impressions, followed by Sony Pal’s Baalveer followed with 4.274 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Tashan-E-Ishq clocked 4.182 million Impressions to be at No. 5.
