Delhi: JioCinema has dropped hints about an upcoming 'ad-free' subscription plan set to debut on April 25.

JioCinema's initiative comes as consumers increasingly seek out ad-free streaming experiences.
Currently, the JioCinema subscription plan is priced at Rs 999 per year in the app, with the option to purchase a monthly plan for Rs 99 via the web.
In 2023, Reliance-backed Viacom18 secured the digital rights for the tournament for Rs 23,758 crore for five years. The move disrupted the digital streaming landscape by offering IPL matches for free on JioCinema, previously behind a paywall on Hotstar.
This strategy helped JioCinema garner 449 million viewers and over 17 billion views during the last IPL season.
According to PWC's Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2023–2027 report, the SVOD sector, which has been driving the streaming boom over the past decade, is expected to continue dominating global OTT revenue. The SVOD sector is projected to expand at a CAGR of 13.0% to reach $2.6 billion in India by 2027.
