Dislodging Star Utsav, Zee Anmol reclaims top position in combined markets

GEC Watch: Star Plus climbs to No. 2 position in U+R, retains urban leadership

Zee Anmol reclaimed leadership in the Hindi GEC genre in the U+R markets in Week 32 of 2018 (August 4-10). As per BARC India data, Star Plus remained the most watched channel in the urban market, while the channel climbed to No. 2 position in the combined markets. Zee Anmol strengthened its position in the rural market too. Colors has lost significant numbers to slip down the ranks in all three markets.

Amongst the shows, the ranking largely remained the same, except a minor shuffling. Naagin 3 remained the most watched show, while Kumkum Bhagya, Kundali Bhagya, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlaata Hai, Dance Deewane, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltaah Chashmah, Rabba Ve and Mehak were the other leading shows.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 32 of 2018 (August 4-10) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol returned to the leadership position in the U+R markets with 747.862 million (last week 652.641 million) Impressions. Star Plus, rose to No. 2 with 682.867 million (last week 629.941 million) Impressions. Star Utsav dropped numbers and slipped from its top position to the No. 3 spot garnering 665.087 million (last week 672.028 million) Impressions. Zee TV too dropped significant numbers to slip to the No. 4 spot in this week, clocking 621.587 million (last week 662.938 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 5 position, clocking 614.763 million (last week 582.609 million) Impressions. At No. 6, Star Bharat grabbed 613.191 million (last week 638.043 million) Impressions, followed by Colors, that slipped to No. 7, garnering 596.396 million (last week 602.352 million) Impressions. Rishtey stood at No. 8 position with 550.026 million (last week 526.501 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was at No. 9 by clocking 491.619 million (last week 498.865 million) Impressions. Dangal entered the U+R list at No. 10 grabbing 436.147 million (last week 456.529 million) Impressions.
Top shows in U+R markets 

Colors’ Naagin-3 clocked 15.221 million (last week 16.677 million) Impressions, leading the most watched programmes list in the U+R segment. As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, while Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya came in next by clocking 13.130 million (last week 12.800 million)  Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya was third with 12.972 million (last week 13.148 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya was at No. 4 that garnering 12.683 million (last week 11.329 million)  Impressions. At No. 5, Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlaata Hai clocked 11.579 million (last week 11.426 million) Impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

Star Plus continued to improve its viewership significantly in Week 32 and reached the top spot in the urban markets with 486.654 million (last week 450.504 million) Impressions. Colors in turn lost close to 12 million Impressions slipping to No. 2, garnering 405.648 million (last week 417.425 million) Impressions. Zee TV, meanwhile, at No. 3 clocked 382.400 million (last week 401.427 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television, at No. 4 spot grabbed 361.707 million (last week 365.339 million) Impressions, followed by Sony SAB at No. 5, that clocked 314.940 million (last week 345.253 million) Impressions. At No. 6, Star Bharat garnered 303.380 million (last week 315.840 million) Impressions. Star Utsav at No. 7 garnered 195.176 million (last week 195.834 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Pal that stood at No. 8 with 173.077 million (last week 177.778 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol at No. 9 registered 156.093 million (last week 139.693 million) Impressions. &TV was at the last spot clocking 137.557 million Impressions.
Top programmes in urban markets

Colors’ Naagin-3 remained the most watched show in the urban markets with 9.631 million (last week 10.794 million) Impressions, followed by Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that garnered 8.396 million (last week 7.403 million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 3 with 7.951 million (last week 7.642 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya slipped to the fourth spot in the most watched shows list, by clocking 7.709 million (last week 8.025 million) Impressions in the urban market. Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 591.769 million (last week 512.949 million) Impressions. Star Utsav was at No. 2 position garnering 469.911 million (last week 476.194 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at No. 3 in rural markets garnering 441.686 million (last week 404.831 million) Impressions. Rishtey climbed a spot up, to reach No. 4 with 415.929 million (last week 388.943 million) Impressions. Dangal, at No. 5, clocked 339.149 million (last week 307.573 million) Impressions. Star Bharat, at No. 6 in the rural markets, recorded 309.811 million (last week 322.204 million) Impressions. Zee TV which stayed at No. 7 with 239.188 million (last week 261.511 million) Impressions. Big Magic followed with 220.708 million (last week 198.768 million) Impressions. Star Plus, at No. 9, garnered 196.213 million (last week 179.438 million) Impressions. Colors at No. 10 clocked 190.748 million (last week 184.927 million) Impressions.

Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya was the most watched show in the rural market grabbing 10.446 million (last week 9.351 million). Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that clocked 6.896 million (last week 6.426 million) Impressions, stood at No. 2. Star Utsav’s Rabba Ve entered the top five shows’ list for the first time at No. 3, garnering 6.483 million (last week 6.196 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Mehak stayed at the fourth spot in the rural markets gathering 6.336 million (last week 5.662 million) Impressions, followed by Colors’ Naagin-3 that stood next with 5.590 million (last week 5.883 million)  Impressions.
