Dangal premiere did wonders for Zee TV and took it to the top spot in the U+R pack, coupled with its singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and its fiction Kumkum Bhagya. The channel has also climbed a few spots up in the urban and rural respective markets, as per the data released by BARC India for Week 21 (May 20-26).
In the U+R markets, Rishtey has overtaken its elder sibling channel Colors, while there are no Rishtey shows in the top shows list of either of the markets.
Star Plus and Sony Pal continued to lead in the urban and rural respective markets. Sony Pal’s three shows Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Baalveer and CID have been listed in the top shows list of rural markets.
Top channels in U+R markets
As per select BARC India data for Week 21 (May 20-26) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee TV climbed to the top spot with 679.456 million Impressions. Star Plus slipped to No. 2 with 676.078 million Impressions. Sony Pal too slipped by one spot to reach No. 3 clocking 627.243 million Impressions. Rishtey climbed to fourth spot (512.471 million Impressions), ahead of its elder sibling Colors that slipped a step to stand at No. 5 with 495.240 million Impressions. Zee Anmol slipped to No. 6 with 467.055 million Impressions. At No. 7, Sony SAB garnered 466.662 million Impressions. Star Utsav, at No. 8, garnered 369.016 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was at No. 9 with 361.599 million Impressions, followed by Life OK at No. 10 with 356.776 million Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 5 with 252.230 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 226.437 million Impressions followed by Sony Pal which garnered 150.085 million Impressions. &TV stood at No. 8 with 126.017 million Impressions followed by Rishtey with 125.452 million Impressions. Zee Anmol was listed at No. 10 with 99.013 million Impressions.

Star Utsav stood at No. 5 with 273.392 million Impressions. Star Plus stood at No. 6 with 222.718 million Impressions while Sony SAB followed with 182.243 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya was on the top of the flock in the rural programme list by clocking 5.352 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja slipped to second spot in the rural programmes chart as it garnered 5.130 million Impressions. Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah with 5.055 million Impressions, followed by Sony Pal’s Baalveer followed with 5.005 million Impressions. Sony Pal’s CID clocked 4.609 million Impressions to be at No. 5.
