Colors, which used to be among the top three or five channels in combined and individual markets, has taken a hit in its viewership in rural markets, shows BARC India’s data for Week 19 (May 6-12). The channel stood at No. 8 in rural markets and at No. 5 in combined markets.
Star Plus and Sony Pal continued to lead in the respective markets. Most of the channels have seen a decline in viewership. The ranking of the channels has more or less been the same. Sony Pal had fewer shows in the top programmes chart in the rural market while ZEEL’s channels dominated the rural programmes chart.
Top channels in U+R markets
As per select BARC India data for Week 18 (April 29-May 5) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Star Plus remained on top garnering 624.187 million Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at No. 2 clocking 577.776 million Impressions. Zee TV climbed the ladder the No. 3 with 491.514 million Impressions followed by Zee Anmol with 483.157 million Impressions. Interestingly, Colors slipped to No. 5 with 482.364 million Impressions. Rishtey followed at No. 6 with 465.658 million Impressions. At No. 7, Sony SAB garnered 425.575 million Impressions. Star Utsav, at No. 8, garnered 404.401 million Impressions. Life OK was at No. 9 with 366.100 million Impressions, followed by Sony Entertainment Television at No. 10 with 342.288 million Impressions.

As per select data {HSM (urban+rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya retained its lead with 11.219 million Impressions. Colors’ Naagin – Season 2 stayed at No. 2 with 10.814 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai at No. 3 garnered 9.196 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs stood at No. 4 with 8.303 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja at No. 5 garnered 8.117 million Impressions.

Star Plus retains its urban lead with 422.139 million Impressions. At No. 2, Colors garnered 323.279 million Impressions. Zee TV stood at No. 3 with 286.873 million Impressions while Sony SAB stood at No. 4 with 263.317million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 5 with 235.547 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 223.705 million Impressions followed by Sony Pal which garnered 145.941 million Impressions. &TV stood at No. 8 with 118.770 million Impressions followed by Rishtey with 117.481 million Impressions. Star Utsav stood at No. 10 with 110.145 million Impressions.

As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Colors’ Naagin - Season 2 led the top programmes list with 6.789 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 2 with 6.679 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai stood at No. 3 with 6.154 million Impressions. At No. 4, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs garnered 5.666 million Impressions. Colors’ Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki stood at No. 5 with 4.686 million Impressions.

Sony Pal continued to lead rural markets garnering 431.835 million Impressions. Zee Anmol took second position with 384.915 million Impressions while Rishtey slipped to No. 3 with 348.176 million Impressions. Star Utsav stood at No. 4 with 294.256 million Impressions. Zee TV stood at No. 5 with 204.640 million Impressions. Star Plus stood at No. 6 with 202.047 million Impressions while Sony SAB followed with 162.257 million Impressions. At No. 8, Colors garnered 159.084 million Impressions followed by Big Magic with 142.504 million Impressions. Life OK trailed at No. 10 with 142.394 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja took the top spot in the rural programmes chart as it garnered 6.615 million Impressions. Sony Pal’s Baalveer stood at No. 2 with 5.764 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Tashan E Ishq followed with 5.208 million Impressions followed by Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah with 5.018 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya was at No. 5 with 4.540 million Impressions.
