As the Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli gets set to take to the field to defend its title, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, joins the fans in gearing up to support team India with its recently released film Matrabhasha.

The marquee eight-nation ICC tournament promises a joyride of emotions – pride, excitement, anxiety and euphoria– that all Indian fans will experience together as one.

Underlining the same sentiment of unity and national pride, Matrabhasha showcases cricket as the language that unifies India. The chant ‘India! India!’ that punctuates the film represents the collective national fervour for the sport.

The film features a breath-taking montage of Indian fans accompanied by soul-stirring music. The film journeys from Guwahati and Cherrapunji in the East to the plains of Kutch in the West, from the mountain land of Ladakh and Rohtang Pass in the North to the coastal belt of Kochi and Coimbatore in the South. Covering an expanse of over 2,000 kilometres, it took four teams of directors, 28 days to bring to life the power of cricket.

This tribute to cricket’s devoted fans is made spectacular with the voice of singer Daler Mehndi.

Mehndi said, “Cricket, like good music, has the power to unify people from different background. Matrabhasha brings to life this very essence of the language of cricket in India. I sung this song, that strings the film together, from my heart and it reflects the emotions that India experiences towards this great sport. With the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 coming up, I am looking forward to cheering Team India.”

A Star India spokesperson, said, “The film Matrabhasha captures the very essence of cricket, a thrilling, action-packed sport that inspires millions as a common language unifying all. With team India set to defend its title at the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, cricket fans all over the country will unite yet again and extend their unwavering support to the team and their heroes. We are extremely thrilled with the response to the campaign so far and our coverage will also ensure that we take the viewer experience to the next level!”

This TVC builds on the successful ‘World Cup wali feeling’ and ‘Har koi dekhega’ films and is part of the campaign launched by Star Sports for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

The fans eagerly await this year’s biggest cricketing event ICC CT ’17 #ChampionsKaWorldCup, as the defending champions India begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 4. Incidentally, the ICC CT ’17 will be Virat Kohli’s first major ICC tournament as the captain of the Indian team.
