Delhi: Media and entertainment veteran Rathikant Basu passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 82, at his residence.

In his 48 years of career, he spent 16 years in the M&E industry in various capacities such as DG of Doordarshan, CEO at STAR India, Chairman of Broadcast Worldwide. Before his journey in the media space, he worked as an IAS for 32 years.

From 1993 to 1996, he held the positions of Director General of Doordarshan and Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In 1996, News Corp named Basu as CEO of Star TV India. His tenure at Star India ended in 2001.

Since then, he has been the Chairman of Broadcast Worldwide.
