New Delhi: The counting day for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections generated a lot of intrigue in public as the results did not throw a clear mandate to any party even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA won the majority.
This was proven by the high viewership of live feeds of news channels on Tuesday that continued till the time of filing of this report.
For example, Aaj Tak’s primary feed broadcasting the live television feed was at 1.65 lakh concurrent users at 11.45 am on Wednesday.
Explained: Why primary feed of news channels is the buying currency
During the whole counting hours between 8 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, Aaj Tak’s primary feed broke its own record created on the consecration day of Ayodhya Ram Temple earlier this year on January 22.
The channel’s primary feed touched a peak of 7.5 lakh concurrent users at 8.45 am, which was more than 3.5 times the peak of the no. 2 channel.
The concurrent users watching Aaj Tak’s primary feed throughout the counting hours were more than 2X of all other Hindi channels’ primary feeds put together.
For the first two hours, i.e. 8-10 am, Aaj Tak’s primary feed held 60% market share.
