New Delhi: Reliance Retail has launched a pilot for one-hour delivery of groceries and FMCG products in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, integrated into the JioMart app as a 'hyperlocal delivery' option. According to media reports, they aim to reduce delivery times to 30-45 minutes as the system expands.
Currently, Reliance's fastest delivery for online orders is 12 hours, with some taking up to three days.
Unlike competitors like Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, which deliver in 10 minutes, Reliance will use its store network and warehouses, avoiding the need for extensive dark stores and delivery fleets.
In areas with fewer stores, Reliance will partner with JioMart-associated kirana stores. They are leveraging technology platforms like FYND and Locus for fulfillment and delivery optimisation. Plans include extending hyperlocal delivery to apparel and electronics.
An inter-departmental team led by Damodar Mall and Sandeep Varaganti will oversee the initiative, which follows the shelving of last year’s JioMart Express pilot. This time, no specific branding has been applied.
