Post WhatsApp, Meta AI fever spreads to Instagram

Delhi: Meta has begun testing its generative AI chatbot, called 'Meta AI,' on Instagram following its initial launch on WhatsApp. 

Like other chatbots, Meta AI can create poetry, generate images, and answer questions based on a single text prompt. Meta recently began testing its AI chatbot with select users in India and other countries.

Several users have shared on social media that Meta AI can also assist in navigating Instagram reels on specific topics, potentially reducing reliance on Instagram search.

How to Access Meta AI:

WhatsApp: Find the Meta AI icon in the bottom right corner. Tap it to access the Meta AI inbox, where you can ask questions or request image generation.
  
Instagram: Look for the chatbot in the Instagram DM search bar. Click on the Meta AI icon to chat directly with the bot from your direct messages.

Launch:

Meta AI was introduced in September 2023 during the Meta Connect event, and its generative AI capabilities have been integrated into all Meta’s social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.

Development:

Meta AI is built using Llama 2, a generative text model, and Meta's Large Language Model (LLM) research. Additionally, Meta has partnered with Microsoft's Bing to incorporate real-time information retrieval into text-based conversations.

Features:

One of the standout features of Meta AI is its image generation tool, which can quickly produce realistic images from text prompts. To use this function, users can type '@MetaAI /imagine' followed by their text prompt.
