Former India Today journalist Pankaj Khelkar passes away at 54

Pankaj Khelkar, a former journalist with India Today, has passed away at the age of 54 after suffering a heart attack. The unfortunate incident occurred late on March 12. His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, March 13.

With 23 years of experience in TV Journalism, Khelkar covered a diverse range of subjects in news and features throughout his career.

Khelkar began his journey with the India Today Group in 1992, primarily focusing on broadcast documentary production. Over the years, he reported on significant events including the Telgi Multicrore Stamp Scam, the 2008 Mumbai Terror attack, the German Bakery Blast, Anna Hazare's Lokpal Bill Agitation, and the Covid19 pandemic.

Before his tenure at India Today, Khelkar served as a stringer for the TV Today Group in 1997, eventually joining as a correspondent. Khelkar is a native of Akola and has been associated with the national news channel ‘Aaj Tak’ in Pune for the past several years.

He recently resigned and joined MIT in Pune. Beyond his journalistic endeavors, Khelkar had a passion for photography. He pursued Journalism and Mass Communication at Pune’s Symbiosis College.
