IPL on Star Sports surpasses last year’s full-season reach by 21% in first 48 matches of this year

Star Sports has garnered a reach of 451 million and 266 billion minutes of viewership in the first 48 matches, as per BARC (2+ Urban+Rural) data

The Indian Premier League's (IPL) cumulative reach for live broadcast on television has reached 451 million in the first 48 matches, surpassing last year's full-season reach by 21% and exceeding last year's 48-match reach by 33%, according to BARC (2+ Urban+Rural) .

The Hindi Speaking Market (HSM), North and West regions have also witnessed a surge in IPL viewership, setting the record for the highest-ever reach in the history of the tournament.

IPL on TV garnered the highest-ever reach in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab/Haryana/Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Bengaluru

Similarly, Delhi, Mumbai, and Karnataka have recorded the second-highest-ever reach in their respective regions.

In terms of consumption, the first 48 matches of the IPL accumulated 266 billion minutes of viewership, marking the second-highest consumption ever recorded, excluding the years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, the league has also broken records in terms of HD reach, recording the highest-ever reach of 86 million, which is 3.4 times higher than the figure recorded last year, shared Disney+ Hotstar.

Additionally, there has been a significant 29% growth in the Television Rating Points (TVR) for the first 48 matches, according to BARC Male 15+ data.
