CNN-News18 Monday said it has maintained its leadership position in the English TV news genre with an average viewership share of over 35% for more than a year now in the 2+ age group.
Quoting the data issued by viewership measurement agency BARC India, CNN-News18 said it captured 35.3% market share between Week 16 of 2022 and Week 29 of 2023. (Source: BARC | Market: India | TG: 2+ | Period: AVG Wk 16’22 – 29’23 | 8 Channels considered | Market share%).
The channel claimed that the 15+ TG is considered as the core segment by advertisers for media planning in which it maintained the top position with 34.6% market share during the same period.
Avinash Kaul, CEO (Broadcast), Network18 Group, said, “The continued dominance of CNN-News18 in the robust All India 15+ or 2+ TG indicates the strength of the brand and the value it delivers to its advertisers. By convenient slicing and dicing of viewership data on thin slivers, the competition cannot mislead advertisers.”
