Big FM hosts inaugural edition of BIG Tamil Rasigar Awards at Chennai

Big FM hosted the first edition of the BIG Tamil Rasigar Awards in Chennai.

The event was held on August 26, 2023, at Lady Andal Auditorium.

As per the company statement, the event witnessed renowned names from the Tamil music industry come together to honour the remarkable work of artists in different categories across Cinema, OTT and Social Media.

The awards were attended by Madhushree, Vaisagh, AniVee, Simon K King, Ravi G, Adhithya RK, Vishnu Edavan amongst others. Rooted in the belief that every voice deserves to be heard, the event was in line with the radio network’s philosophy - ‘Idhu Unga Voice’, where the audience is the ultimate authority, from content to music, as per the company statement.

The event was hosted by  RJ Saru, RJ Miruthula, RJ Karun, RJ Sarithiran, RJ Vickyy and RJ Anto.

A R Rahman was honoured with the Best Music Director award for his multi-dimensional music in movies like Ponniyin Selvan 1, Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu and Iravin Nizhal.

Anirudh's score for ‘Vikram’ won him the award for Best Original Score.

The award for Best Song of the Year was won by  'Mudhal Ne Mudivum Ne,' composed by Darbuka Siva.

Vishnu Edavan won the Best Lyrics award for his lyrics in  'Por Kanda singam'.

Ravi G won the Best Male Singer award for 'Naan Pizhai,' and Madhushree received the Best Female Singer award for 'Malli poo.'

Yuvan Shankar Raja's album ‘Love Today’ was awarded the Best Album award.

In the OTT category, Santhosh Narayanan's song 'Evan da enaku custody' won the Best Song of the Year award. He won the best singer award as well.

Simon K King's original score for ‘Vadhandhi’ won the Best Original Score award.

Anirudh's won Best Viral Song of the Year for ‘Arabic Kuthu’.

AniVee's ‘Mayakkuriye’ was honoured as the Best Independent Music creation.

Deva was honoured as the Tamil Rasigargalin Mass Isai Nayagan and Vidyasagar as the Tamil Rasigargalin Class Isai Nayagan.

Vaisagh was celebrated as the Best Find of the Year, while GV Prakash claimed the Youth Icon – Music award.
