While the TV ratings will come on Thursday next week, live viewership on YouTube was dominated by Aaj Tak and India Today TV in Hindi and English news genres

Aaj Tak, India Today TV top YouTube concurrent viewership as Atiq killed on camera

The never-seen-before sensational killing of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother on live TV forced viewers to flock to their TV screens and YouTube livestream on an otherwise peaceful Saturday night. 

While the TV ratings will come on Thursday next week, live viewership on YouTube was dominated by Aaj Tak and India Today TV in Hindi and English news genres. 

Aaj Tak's maximum concurrent viewership peaked at 4,15,000 across all feeds on Saturday night in the 10:38 pm to 11:59 pm time slot. It recorded an average concurrent viewership of 2,65,400.

The closest to Aaj Tak was Zee News with a peak concurrent viewership of 1,71,000 and average concurrent viewership of 90,200.

Republic Bharat fared at No. 3 with a peak concurrent viewership of 91,000 and average of 55,600.

News18 India recorded a peak concurrent viewership of 95,500 but its average concurrent viewership was at 48,200.

TV9 Bharatvarsh touched a peak concurrent viewership of 89,100 while its average concurrent viewership was at 45,000.

India TV’s peak concurrent viewership was 47,600 and average concurrent viewership was 35,800.

In the English news genre, India Today topped with peak concurrent users at 33,9000 and average being 14,600 in the 10:38 pm-11:59 pm time slot on Saturday. 

Republic World clocked a peak concurrent viewership of 6,700 averaging at 4,100. 

CNN-News18’s peak concurrent viewership was recorded at 2,000 while the average concurrent viewership was 1,500.

Ahmad (60) and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists in the middle of a media interaction on Saturday night while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college in UP's Prayagraj for a checkup, NewsDrum reported. 

The brothers, both jailed in Prayagraj, were in handcuffs when they were killed in full view of the camera crew around 10 pm. The visuals were circulated widely on social media platforms and TV channels.
