Levi’s is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its original blue jeans – 501 – with the launch of a new campaign featuring actor and brand ambassador Deepika Padukone, in which she is seen flaunting a pair of jeans.
2023 marks the 150th anniversary of Levi’s 501 jeans, which has become an icon of global style and the original blueprint for other jeans, as per the company.
The Levi’s 501 jeans have witnessed various cultural, political and social moments and have stood the test of time to become a generational icon of culture and fashion, the brand said.
Characterised by straight fit and button fly, the pair Time magazine called “the fashion item of the 20th century” continues its success as an icon in the 21st century.
What began as a patent for copper rivets on work pants in 1873 has, over the last 150 years, has become an influential piece of clothing.
In India, Padukone’s style and ease is aimed at adding a new chapter to the 501 story.
