Elon Musk may launch his own smartphone if Apple and Google decide to remove Twitter from their app stores.
Twitter is reportedly being closely scrutinised by both Apple and Google causing concerns that it might be removed from their app stores.
It all started when podcaster Liz Wheeler tweeted, "If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, Elon Musk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?"
To which, Musk replied: "I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone."

Continuing the tweet chain, many users also wrote that regardless of this he should make his smartphones.
In the meanwhile, Musk shared slides of Twitter’s plans for the future.

Last week, Musk has said Twitter verification will return coming Friday with colour-coded categories for individuals, government accounts and companies.
He wrote, “Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates.”
Twitter's premium service, which granted blue-check verification labels to anyone willing to pay $8 a month, was suspended shortly after its launch following the microblogging platform getting flooded by a wave of imposter accounts.
