Broadcast and media veteran Joy Chakraborthy has joined Zee Media Corp as Chief Business Officer – Revenue. Sources close to the development have confirmed.
At Zee Media, Chakraborthy will be handling sales, distribution, marketing, international and digital revenues.
Abhay Ojha, Chief Business Officer of the company, who was nominated as a key managerial personnel after the resignation of Sudhir Chaudhary, will continue in his current role.
Ojha, who is also heading P&L for Cluster-3 (Zee MP/CG,Zee UP/UK,Zee PHH, Zee Delhi NCR Haryana and Zee Salam), joined ZMCL as Chief Business Officer earlier this year in February.
It may be recalled that the Chief Revenue Officer of the company, who was also Abhay Ojha, passed away earlier this year in June.
With 27 years in the media industry, Chakraborthy is one of the industry leaders who has been active in initiating and leading change throughout his career. His experience traverses print, television, radio and digital businesses in the Indian media industry.
Ad sales and revenue generation being core to his career, Chakraborthy has leveraged his strength to turn around revenues for media businesses he has been associated with.
In top leadership roles including CEO, Chakraborthy has successfully delivered on tall business asks in all his assignments.
Prior to his brief stint at Goldmines Telefilms as CEO, Chakraborthy held CEO position at Enter10 Media, TV Today Network (Aajtak / India Today/ Tej/ FM Oye104.8) and Forbes India.
He was Executive director at Zee group, Director at Times of India group, President at TV18 News Network and Executive Vice President at Star TV.
Chakraborthy is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School and has graduated from National Defence Academy.
