The Delhi HC has granted an ex-parte ad-interim injunction against "Satta Dream 11” in a trademark infringement suit filed by Sporta Technologies, the company that owns Dream11, the fantasy gaming platform.
A website by the name www.sattadream11.com which was registered in November 2021 was offering sports betting services on their website, which according to Dream11 was ‘illegal’ in nature.
According to Dream11, the website was using its trademark, tarnishing its reputation and image as the public was associating Satta’s ‘unlawful’ activities with Dream11.
In the latest update in the case, the Delhi HC has restrained the defendant- Sattadream11 from using the mark ‘Sattadream11’ or any deceptively similar variant as the trademark, trade or domain name amounting to infringement of the Dream11 trademark or passing off, till the next date of hearing.
The Delhi HC has also directed Godaddy.com LLC to suspend access to the domain name www.sattadream11.com, within a period of one week.
It must be noted that Dream11’s trademark has been upheld by the Delhi HC in several suits against a number of third parties who have used the trademark or its variants like 'eDream11', 'dream11.bet', 'mydream11', etc.
