The 2022 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin from March 26, 2022 and all league phase matches will be played in Mumbai and Pune. IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed this to news agency PTI after a meeting of IPL's Governing council.
This marks the return of the glamorous league to India, as in 2021 the tournament had to be shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) midway, after being stopped due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in India and in the bio bubbles of the participating teams.
Media reports also suggest that spectators will be allowed in the stadiums in a limited capacity in 2022, the fifteenth season of IPL.
The matches are slated to be held in Mumbai's Wankhede and Navi Mumbai's DY Patil stadiums. While in Pune, the matches will be played at the Gahunje Stadium.
