Bharati Balakrishnan joins Shopify India as Country Head and Director

Shopify India has appointed Bharati Balakrishnan as the Country Head and Director.

Previously, she was with Future Group India for more than two years as the Senior Vice-President, Digital Commerce. She was instrumental in setting up and leading the end to end P&L management of the Group's omnichannel and digital commerce businesses across multiple formats, channels and categories, including Big Bazaar, EasyDay, Brand Factory and others.

Before this, she worked with the execution team at Paytm Mall post the investment from Alibaba Group and worked there for over a year and a half as the Vice-President and Head of Categories. Prior to this, she was the Senior Director at Alibaba Group Full-time for two years as part of the India strategy team with a nuanced understanding of the China eCommerce market.

Balakrishnan started her career in 2006 as a Senior Consultant with Bain & Company and then went on joining HSBC as the Manager, Group M&A. She was then appointed as the Head, Operations and Service Delivery at Healthspring - Family Health Experts. After four years of stint, she then became the Chief Business Officer at LocalOye.

Balakrishnan completed her B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani and MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
