As decided by the Board of Directors, the position of the Group Editorial Officer is “being created with the broad objective to enable greater synergies across the different print publications and digital offerings, by coordinating content efforts across all publications of The Hindu Group”, Parthasarathy wrote in an internal communication.

The GEO will play a guiding role on content management and strategy across all the publications, working on a consultative basis with the Editors of the various publications. He will also work closely with the digital editors and the business and technical teams to drive THG’s digital transformation. In effect, his role would be to coordinate with the Editors of the various print publications and digital offerings on content strategy and management. He will help situate content optimally across publications and ensure synergy between our product offerings.

Prasad, former Editor in Chief of Outlook, and Editor of Vijay Times brings to his role rich editorial experience in both print and the digital space. His personal blogs Churumuri and Sans Serif have caught the public eye as they often offer interesting insights into otherwise unnoticed political and social trends.

“We are confident that he will help us not only build greater synergy in our content offerings but help us raise the bar in building high quality journalism and widen our digital imagination,” Parthasarathy wrote.

“We do expect that Prasad in this exciting new role will work with the Editors of our publications and in the digital space. As the new role of Group Editorial Officer is a cross-functional one, he is to work closely with the CEO and the business team in the task of placing the audience of readers and digital subscribers at the centre of our universe. Thereby, hopefully our journey of transformation will achieve greater heights of excellence and indeed greatness,” she added.
