Republic Network set to enter the Bengali market

Republic Media Network will soon launch its Bengali News service. The network's Twitter handle shared a post, saying they are open to hiring staff for the new channel.

The channel’s Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami had claimed they will be launching a channel in every language and every state of the country. He had also said they will be launching an international service soon. The network at present has am English and a Hindi news channel. This will be its first foray into the regional market.

Republic's entry into West Bengal comes at a crucial time when the West Bengal Assembly elections are near. TV9 also announced its entry into the Bengali market after announcing the launch of TV9 Bangla and its digital offering tv9bangla.com. Aaj Tak also launched a digital news destination, aajtak.in/bangla recently. It will be interesting to see how the new players perform in the new market.
