HuffPost India shuts operations

HuffPost India has shut its operations in the country. The publication flashed a message to its readers on its website, “As of November 24 HuffPost India will no longer be publishing content. For more great global content, please visit HuffPost.com. We thank you for your support and readership,” it read.

Aman Sethi, Editor-in-Chief, HuffPost India, also shared the development on social media and thanked the readers.

HuffPost India was launched by the Huffington Post media group and the Times of India group in 2014 in India. Later in 2017, both Huffington Post and Times Group parted ways and the former decided to continue HuffPost India operations on its own.

HuffPost India was managed by a 12-member team.

The government of India has asked all digital news publications to comply with the 26% cap on FDI, thus making it impossible for foreign owned publications to operate in India unless they transfer their 74% shareholding to any Indian partner.
