I&B Ministry asks channels not to criticise, malign or slander any individual or certain groups

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has sent an advisory to all private satellite TV channels to comply with the order of the High Court of Delhi in the matter of WP (C) 6568/2020 - Rakul Preet Singh Vs. Union of India.

Referring to the Programme Code under the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act, 1995, MIB said that no programme should contain anything obscene, defamatory, deliberate, false and suggestive innuendos and half truths.

The ministry strictly advised to not carry any programme that criticises, maligns or slander any individual in person or certain groups, segments of social, public and moral life of the country.

The advisory noted that all private satellite TV channels are requested to ensure compliance with the directions.
