Diageo India appoints PepsiCo's Deepika Warrier as CMO

Global alcobev giant Diageo has appointed Deepika Warrier as Chief Marketing Officer for India market. Julie Bramham, current CMO of Diageo India, will move to Amsterdam as Global Brand Director for Johnnie Walker, Diageo’s number #1 brand globally.

Commenting on the changes, Anand Kripalu, Managing Director and CEO, Diageo India, said, “We are delighted to welcome Deepika to the Diageo India family. Her strong consumer-centric approach combined with her transformational leadership skills makes her a tremendous asset to Diageo. We would also like to thank Julie for her many contributions to the business, including setting a new direction for our brand portfolio as well as the Innovation programme."

Warrier is a seasoned marketer with more than 25 years of experience including 13 years+ of CMO and P&L leadership experience across scale, start-up and turn around operating models in India, and international markets.

Warrier joins Diageo India from PepsiCo where he spent about two decades. In her last role, she was CEO and MD of NourishCo Beverages Limited ( a Pepsico-Tata Global Beverages JV).

After joining PepsiCo India in July 2000, Warrier held various senior brand management and new business development positions in the company.

She moved to PepsiCo’s scale food business in Mexico (Sabritas) in 2005 as Marketing Director and worked on strategic innovation projects & scale brands like Doritos and Cheetos.

She returned to PepsiCo India in August 2007 as Marketing Director – Foods. In this role, she led the marketing team in an aggressive portfolio diversification agenda, with the successful launch of Aliva, demonstrating the true potential of Quaker and leading the huge groundwork to kick start Pepsico’s Value business.

In 2010, Warrier was given the responsibility to head beverage marketing.

Warrier, in 2014, became PepsiCo’s first official, to head marketing of both foods and beverages.

Prior to PepsiCo, Warrier worked in brand management, insights and advertising roles at Gillette, Ogilvy & Mather and Britannia Industries Ltd.

Warrier holds an honours degree from Lady Shriram College, Delhi University and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
