Uday Shankar to oversee Hotstar, picks K Madhavan to head Star India's TV business

In an organisational restructuring, Uday Shankar, President of Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific and Chairman of Star and Disney India, has decided that K Madhavan, who has built Star India’s regional business, will now look after all TV business across markets and verticals.

Shankar announced the realignment in the wake of Sanjay Gupta’s exit by the end of this month as Country Manager of Star India.

In an internal email sent to his employees, Shankar wrote that all of Gupta’s direct reports will report to Madhavan.

Shankar said, “For the time being, I shall have a direct oversight on Hotstar, and Hotstar leadership will work directly with me.

Nitin Bawankule, who has recently taken charge of ad-sales for HSM, Sports and Hotstar will report to Madhavan for the TV business and will work directly with me for Hotstar sales.”
