Following the news of Faye D’Souza quitting and speculation of political pressure behind her departure, Times Network has said she stepped down as Executive Editor of Mirror Now but has taken up other responsibilities within the Network.

“Regarding on-going speculation surrounding Faye D’Souza’s disengagement with Mirror Now, this is to clarify that Faye continues to be associated with Times Network and Mirror Now,” the company said.

Social media was abuzz with speculation of political pressure after which Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had reacted, saying “Indian media plunges further into darkness” on Twitter.

Explaining D’Souza’s responsibility, Times Network said, “Having played a pivotal role in establishing a strong position for Mirror Now, Faye moves away from managing daily operations of the brand and will now be responsible for creating and presenting flagship shows on Mirror Now in addition to steering new shows, IPs and ground events for the Network.”

D’Souza also took to Twitter to add that she would work on developing new content for the youth of India across platforms in her independent capacity.
