Sunil Lulla, former Group Chief Executive Officer of Balaji Telefilms, who recently quit the organisation, has launched ‘The Linus Adventures’. The in-residence consultancy firm will provide services towards growing businesses, building brands and enabling cultures, engaging with promoters and CXOs directly in the consumer, digital and content domain.
Lulla, Founder and Chief Evangelist of The Linus Adventures, has over 35 years of experience in building brands and businesses with startups and turning around businesses in the consumer, media (TV and digital), content and the internet technology space.
Before joining Balaji Telefilms in May 2018, Lulla was Chairman and Managing Director of Grey Group India where he spent nearly four years. Prior to this, he was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Times Television Network.
Lulla’s early years were spent in sales, and in 1985 he joined J Walter Thompson (JWT). Later, he held senior positions at the agency looking after the client services in China, Taiwan and India. Lulla was a member of the team, which helped turned around Sa Re Ga Ma (HMV) from the Red to the Black in India.
From 1996-1999, Lulla was General Manager and Country Head at MTV India where he led the channel to become an iconic youth brand and a category leader in India. After this, Lulla worked with various organisations such as Indya.com, United Distillers and Diageo.
In 2002, Lulla moved to Sony Entertainment Television (SET) as an Executive Vice-President. For three years, he oversaw the operations of the Sony Pictures Networks India’s flagship channel, and was responsible for programming, marketing and P&L.
Lulla joined Times Television Network (owned by the Times Group) in March 2005 as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer where he spent nearly nine years. Thereafter, he was promoted as President, Corporate Development at Bennett & Coleman Co Ltd (BCCL).
Lulla has been a member of many industry associations and helped drive policy and agenda setting themes for the advertising, media and entertainment industry, and continues to be on the boards of companies.
