Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd. (PGHHCL) reported a 2% increase in its adspend during the first quarter of the financial year 2020. The company spent Rs 69.19 crore on advertising and sales promotion in the quarter ending June 30, 2019 vs. Rs 67.73 crore a year ago.
For the fiscal year ended June 30, PGHHCL spent Rs 312.31 crore, up 20% from Rs 260.52 crore in the previous year.
The company delivered sales of Rs 2,947 crore, up 20% vs. year ago (comparable sales* up 14%) behind strong brand fundamentals and strength of the product portfolio. The profit after tax (PAT) was Rs 419 crore, up 12% vs. a year ago. For the quarter ended June 30, 2019, the sales were Rs 637 crore, up 21% vs. a year ago (comparable sales* up 12%).
PGHHCL reported a 36.45% rise in net profit at Rs 60.79 crore for the June quarter. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 44.55 crore in the year-ago quarter.
"In a challenging market environment, we delivered strong double-digit growth for the year and the fourth quarter. We will continue to focus on delivering balanced and sustained growth in a challenging and competitive macroeconomic environment," Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care MD Madhusudan Gopalan said.
