In an effort to applaud the efforts of people who chose to vote, youth brand MTV has partnered with Lit Cabs to offer ‘free’ rides to voters this Monday, April 29, in selected booths of Mumbai and its suburbs.
Mumbaikars can avail of these cabs and travel anywhere within a distance of 5 km from their nearest polling booths. After voting, all they have to do is show the inked finger to the cab driver, select a drop location within 5 km and join the ride. At the end, they will have to click a selfie with their inked finger and the cab, and post it on their social media by tagging @mtvindia and using the hashtag #VoteBecauseYouCan.
Commenting on the campaign, Ferzad Palia, Head, Youth, Music & English Entertainment, Viacom18, said, “India’s youth has an influential role to play in determining its future. MTV is proud to raise a strong voice, urging the young Indians to exercise their power to vote. Moving beyond the realm of the ordinary, this campaign evokes strong emotions and compels us to reflect on the privileges that accompany our democratic powers.”
On this occasion, Jyotiba Patil, Founding Partner, Litcabs, said, “MTV India’s campaign of #VoteBecauseYouCan is a really great initiative as it encourages the Mumbaikars to vote responsibly. We are delighted to partner with MTV India and support their campaign during the General Elections. We have shortlisted 50 polling booths; where outside each booth one cab will be stationed. The objective around this is to create further awareness and incentivise the people to exercise their ballot.”
