IRS 2019 Q1: India Today tops English and Hindi magazines; Vanitha leads in regional languages

With the magazines showing a healthy growth of 11.5% in IRS 2019 Q1 over the previous survey’s results released in IRS 2017, the total readership of magazines across all the languages now stands at 8.7 crore in the current survey compared with 7.8 crore in IRS 2017.

India Today’s both English and Hindi magazines topped their respective categories. While India Today English grew by 15% to record a total readership of 91,52,000 in IRS 2019 Q1 over 79,92,000 in the previous survey, India Today Hindi recorded a TR of 77,12,000, up by 8% over a TR of 71,59,000 in IRS 2017.

Even as all the magazines in top-10 across languages except Saras Salil Hindi registered growth, there is no change in the pecking order.

Malayalam magazine Vanitha topped the regional languages chart with a total readership of 70,28,000 in IRS 2019 Q1 over 61,28,000 of TR recorded in the previous survey. The magazine recorded a growth of 15%.
