The anonymous accuser, who had made allegations of sexual exploitation against Star India Chairman and CEO Uday Shankar, has responded to Star India. The network, last week, had asked the accuser to come forward and had assured a fair probe and confidentiality.
In the email written to Veena Gowda, women’s rights lawyer and external member of Star India’s Internal Complaints Committee, the accuser has said the entire exercise would eventually turnout to be an eyewash to save CEO Uday Shankar from any unforeseen action from the Parent company in the USA.
A Star India spokesperson had mentioned in an earlier statement issued to news agency IANS that despite no response from the anonymous accuser to the messages sent, the Star IC had “suo moto conducted a preliminary inquiry and found no basis or factual accuracy" in respect of the allegations.
