New York Festivals Television & Films awards open for entries, launches new categories

New York Festivals TV and Films competition is open for entries. Since 1957, NYF’s International Television & Film Awards competition has honoured storytelling across all platforms and continues to honour exceptional content being created around the globe.

“Every year, we evaluate and update our categories to stay current, and this year we have added categories across new content areas and expanded recognition for brand image campaigns. We welcome storytelling across all platforms, including all genres for all types of audiences,” said Rose Anderson, VP & Executive Director, NYF Television & Film Awards.

Esports coverage is growing exponentially on a global level and NYF’s inaugural Esports categories include: Esports journalism, Esports reporter, Esports coverage, Esports competition Newscast, Esports special, and Digital short-form Esports.

Brand image creates recognition and NYF’s corporate image categories provide opportunities to recognise innovative storytelling that showcases a company’s vision, core policies, and public facing identity. Newly expanded Corporate Image categories for 2019: Brand Image, Digital Short-Form Branded Entertainment, Branded Content, Attitudinal Training, Branded Documentary Film, CSR not-for-profit, Employee Engagement, Public Relations & Social Engagement.

Additional categories added to the robust roster include: Telenovela Promotion, Digital Short-Form Music Video, Human Rights Documentary, Student Documentary.

The event will take place at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 9, 2019. For the ninth consecutive year, NYF and their official partner, NAB Show, will present the TV & Film Awards to more than 102K+ attendees from 160 countries and 1,700 exhibitors, all with a combined purchasing power of $20.5 billion.

In 2018, five distinguished entries were honoured with Grand Awards: ‘Jane’ (National Geographic); ‘Diana: In Her Own Words’ (1895 Films); ‘Mosul’ (Frontline PBS /C4/ Mongoose Pictures); ‘Yamazaki Moments’ (Dentsu Inc.); and ‘Genius’ (National Geographic).

Greg MacGillivray, Chairman/Director of MacGillivray Freeman Films was recognised with the 2018 New York Festivals Lifetime Achievement Award.

2018 Industry Awards honoured Al Jazeera English, Qatar, as Broadcaster of the Year Award; The Edge Picture Company, UK, as Production Company of the Year Award; and Movistar+, Spain as Program Promotion Team of the Year Award.

All entries in the 2019 competition will be judged online and screened by New York Festivals Television & Film Awards Grand Jury of 200 plus producers, directors, writers, and other creative media professionals from around the globe. Nominated finalists are judged by a selected panel at the United Nations for the UNDPI Awards. Award-winning entries will be showcased on the NYF Television & Film Awards website.
