GEC Watch: Colors strengthens its urban lead, Zee Anmol tops U+R and rural

Colors continues to gain significant viewership on the back of Naagin-3 and Dance Deewane. Star Plus’ new show Kulfi Kumar Bajewala has pulled itself up to fifth rank in the urban market

Colors strengthened its lead in the urban markets in the Week 25 of 2018 (June 16-22). The channel continues to gain significant viewership on the back of Naagin-3 and Dance Deewane. Zee Anmol also maintained its leadership in the rural and the combined U+R markets.

Star Plus’ new show Kulfi Kumar Bajewala has pulled itself up to rank fifth in the urban market. Meanwhile, Kumkum Bhagya and Kundali Bhagya continued their presence in the top five shows list in the three markets.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 25 of 2018 (June 16-22) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol stayed at the top spot in the U+R markets, despite loss in numbers, with 745.706 million (last week 772.625 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at No. 2, clocking 599.068 million (last week 616.233 million) Impressions. Zee TV, stayed at No. 3 with 572.708 million (last week 552.159 million) Impressions. Star Bharat, too remained at No. 4, garnering 568.791 million (last week 544.769 million) Impressions. Colors stayed at No. 5 clocking 556.889 million (last week 529.007 million) Impressions. Star Utsav climbed back to the sixth spot garnering 491.102 million (last week 474.052 million) Impressions, followed by Rishtey that gained viewership climbing to No. 7 position, with a viewership of 487.121 million (last week 463.939 million) Impressions. Star Plus, slipped to No. 8 with 462.775 million (last week 504.957 million) Impressions. Sony SAB continued at No. 9 with 355.389 million (last week 358.727 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television stayed at No. 10 by clocking 312.771 million (last week 317.129 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets 

Colors’ Naagin-3 clocked 14.559 million (last week 14.103 million) Impressions, leading the most watched programmes list in the U+R segment. As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya came in next with 12.297 million (last week 11.600 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya became the third most watched show by clocking 11.382 million (last week 11.091 million) Impressions, followed by Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya that clocked 10.443 million (last week 11.044 million) Impressions. At No. 5, Colors’ dance reality show Dance Deewane garnered 8.913 million (last week 9.000 million) Impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

Riding on the back of the third season of its most popular franchise Naagin, Colors stayed put at the top spot garnering 385.996 million (last week 370.516 million) Impressions. Zee TV continued to be on the second spot in the urban markets, in the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) ranking, with 350.607 million (last week 340.684 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed at the No. 3 spot in the urban markets with 326.745 million (last week 353.092 million) Impressions. At No. 4, Star Bharat garnered 276.834 million (last week 265.175 million) Impressions, followed by Sony SAB, at No. 5, that clocked 274.347 million (last week 270.493 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television, stayed at No. 6 spot with 240.238 million (last week 245.915 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stood at No. 7 with 179.237 million (last week 199.244 million) Impressions.
