Shekhar Banerjee, erstwhile Chief Operating Officer, Madison Media, is joining Wavemaker India. Banerjee is joining the agency today as Managing Partner, a position that was vacated recently by Anand Chakravarthy after he was appointed Managing Director of Essence India. He will report to Kartik Sharma, Managing Director, Wavemaker India.
Highly placed sources close to the development confirmed the news to BestMediaInfo.com. However, neither Banerjee nor the Wavemaker spokesperson could be reached for confirmation.
GroupM's Wavemaker, created from the merger of Maxus and MEC, opened its doors for business in India last year. The agency is number two in India in terms of size and has 700 plus employees on board with service portfolio of clients including FMCG giant ITC and L’Oréal.
At Madison, Banerjee had handled some of the key accounts like Godrej, Mondelez, Marico and Asian Paints. He was also heading the digital media and creative unit for Madison Media.
Banerjee has spent over a decade at Madison, while he has been in the industry for about 14 years. He had started his career at UTV, handling Strategic Planning in 2004. Later in 2007, he joined Madison Media and stayed on till now.
