GEC Watch: Zee Anmol leads U+R and rural; Colors tops the urban flock

GEC Watch: Zee Anmol leads U+R and rural; Colors tops the urban flock

In Week 47 of 2017 (November 18-24) of BARC India data, Zee Anmol reclaimed its lead position in the combined markets U+R, displacing its sister channel Zee TV which slipped to No. 2. Colors continued to be at No. 1 in the urban markets while Zee Anmol was on top in the rural markets.

Zee TV dropped to No. 2 in U+R while maintaining No 2 in urban, though both its fiction shows ranked well on the top shows chart. Sony Entertainment Television further dropped its numbers and rankings.

Dangal TV, which had entered the rural list recently, stayed put at its seventh spot.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 47 of 2017 (November 18-24) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol climbed to the top spot with 661.157 million (last week 664.328 million) Impressions. Zee TV slipped to No. 2 garnering 653.961 million (last week 677.155 million) Impressions. Star Bharat stayed at No. 3 with 630.865 million (last week 656.578 million) Impressions. Colors too retained its No. 4 position with 607.248 million (last week 638.715 million) Impressions. Sony Pal continued at the fifth spot with 580.171 million (last week 629.560 million) Impressions. Star Utsav grew its numbers significantly to stand at No. 6 this week garnering 505.333 million (last week 431.567 million) Impressions. Star Plus slipped to No. 7 with 480.000 million (last week 514.131 million) Impressions. Rishtey at No. 8 clocked 408.566 million (last week 418.444 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television further slipped to No. 9 position with gross viewership of 405.956 million (last week 425.518 million) Impressions. Sony SAB stayed at No. 10 with 379.184 million (last week 393.863 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s spin-off show Kundali Bhagya and its original fiction Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the top two spots at No. 1 and 2 with 12.816 million (last week 12.491 million) and 11.657 million (last week 11.938 million) Impressions, respectively. Sony Sab’s flagship property Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood third with 9.016 million (last week 9.704 million) Impressions.

Star Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchal was at No. 4 with 8.935 million (last week 9.512 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Piya Albela stood at fifth with 8.762 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Colors continued to lead the flock of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) in the urban markets, garnering 431.396 million (last week 451.438 million) Impressions. Zee TV was ranked as the second most watched Hindi GEC in the urban markets clocking 385.878 million (last week 411.746 million) Impressions. Star Plus stood at the third spot in the urban markets with 338.604 million (last week 361.675 million) Impressions. Star Bharat grew to grab the fourth spot by clocking 299.488 million (last week 305.632 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Sab garnering 284.362 million (last week 305.645 million) Impressions, followed by. Sony Entertainment Television continued at sixth spot with 282.769 million (last week 302.041 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 175.609 million (last week 191.753 million) Impressions.
