GEC Watch: Zee TV grabs top spot in urban; Zee Anmol continues to lead rural and U+R

According to the latest data released by BARC India, Colors too climbed one spot up to claim the fourth rank in the U+R markets. DD National came up as a gainer on the back of the ongoing India-Australia bilateral one-day series. Two of the matches also came up in the most watched shows' list in the rural markets

GEC Watch: Zee TV grabs top spot in urban; Zee Anmol continues to lead rural and U+R

In Week 38 of 2017 (September 16-22), Zee TV grew to pick the top slot in the urban markets, while most other rankings of the channels remained the same. Despite the fact that the channel’s singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs was not listed in the top five list in any of the three markets, the channel’s numbers increased.

According to the latest data released by BARC India, Colors too climbed one spot up to claim the fourth rank in the U+R markets. DD National came up as a gainer on the back of the ongoing India-Australia bilateral one day series. Two of the matches also came up in the most watched shows’ list in the rural markets.

Kaun Banega Crorepati continues to rake good numbers for Sony Entertainment Television, though the channel still lost significant viewership and slipped two spots in the urban market.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 38 (September 16-22) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol remained on the top position in the combined markets recording viewership of 700.182 million (last week 672.253 million) Impressions. Zee TV stayed at No. 2 position with 671.377 million (last week 632.973 million) Impressions. Star Bharat remained at No. 3 spot with 582.902 million (last week 607.820 million) Impressions. Colors climbed up to grab fourth rank with 563.342 million (last week 544.690 million) Impressions. Star Plus slipped to No. 4 with 551.710 million (last week 587.286 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 6 with 524.409 million (last week 527.814 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was at No. 7 with 513.853 million (last week 522.791 million) Impressions. Rishtey stayed at No. 8 this week with 402.694 million (last week 404.107 million) Impressions. Sony SAB continued to be at No. 9 with 363.462 million (last week 378.796 million) Impressions. DD National re-entered the list at 10 with 310.627 million Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya topped the chart with 12.647 million (last week 12.326 million) Impressions. The channel’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya stayed put at No. 2 position with 11.738 million (last week 10.940 million). Kaun Banega Crorepati on Sony Entertainment Television too remained strong at No. 3 position with 9.918 million (last week 10.050 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja was the new entrant in the top-5 shows list in U+R markets with 8.169 million Impressions. Colors’ Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi was at No. 5 with 8.124 million (last week 8.889 million) Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Zee TV  climbed to the top, leading the roost in the urban markets with 402.089 million (last week 383.840 million) Impressions.Star Plus slipped to No. 2 with significant loss of numbers. The channel garnered 387.250 million (last week 409.111 million) Impressions. Colors too climbed up to grab the third spot with 382.392 million (last week 374.853 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television fell back to No. 4, though KBC continued to do well. The channel garnered 377.352 million Impressions (last week 396.037 million). Sony SAB stayed at No. 5 with 264.544 million (last week 278.795 million) Impressions. Star Bharat remained at No. 6 with 261.294 million (last week 277.765 million) Impressions. Sony Pal came in next at No. 7 with 159.284 million (last week 158.482 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol climbed to No. 8 spot with 158.159 million (last week 151.173 million) Impressions. &TV slipped to No. 9 with loss of numbers, garnering 155.999 million (last week 167.123 million) Impressions. DD National entered the list at No. 10 with 112.217 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja was the most watched programme in the rural markets garnering 6.422 million (last week 5.916 million) Impressions. Sony Pal’s Baalveer stood next at No. 2 garnering 6.121 million (last week 5.776 million) Impressions. The India-Australia ODI matches - Match 2 and Match 1, stood at No. 3 and 4 in the rural markets with 5.963 million Impressions and 5.578 million Impressions, respectively. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya grabbed fifth position with 5.254 million Impressions.
