GEC Watch: Star Bharat grabs second spot in U+R and Rural

Star Bharat continued to perform well in the second week of its launch to reach the second spot in U+R markets and became the most watched Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) in rural market. The channel was launched on Monday, August 28.

Kaun Banega Crorepati also strengthened itself and became the most watched show in the urban markets, as per BARC India data.

Star Plus reclaimed its top spot in the urban markets but the gap between Colors (No. 2) was very narrow as the two stood about half a million apart in Week 36 (September 2-8).

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 36 (September 2-8) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol remained on the top position in the combined markets by garnering 819.438 million (last week 771.523 million) Impressions. Star Bharat on its journey upwards, climbed to No. 2 spot with 669.588 million (last week 519.743 million in its debut week) Impressions. Zee TV stayed at No. 3 to garner 625.640 million (last week 598.705 million) Impressions. Star Plus remained at No. 4 with 581.618 million (last week 574.003 million) Impressions. Colors slipped by three spots to reach No. 5 position with 560.456 million (last week 613.679 million) Impressions. Sony Pal climbed to No. 6 garnering 496.335 million (last week 469.504 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television dropped by a position up at No. 7 this week and garnered 491.965 million (last week 474.425 million) Impressions. Rishtey stayed at No. 8 this week with 438.215 million (last week 418.914 million) Impressions. Sony SAB continued to be at No. 9 with 383.079 million (last week 368.444 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya slipped to No. 2 with 10.981 million (last week 10.267 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja retained No. 3 position with 10.423 million (last week 10.018 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya remained at No. 4 in the top shows’ list in the combined markets with 10.140 million (last week 9.858 million) Impressions. Colors’ Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi slipped to No. 5 clocking 9.951 million (last week 10.238 million) Impressions.
