Sony's two-hour comedy stunt on weekends, coupled with KBC on weekdays

Sony Entertainment Television will soon host two hours packed with stand-up comedy on weekends, with two biggest rivals competing to be better than the other. Starting July 15, Saturday, the channel will put up Drama Company at 8 pm and The Kapil Sharma Show will continue to be aired at 9 pm.

The Kapil Sharma Show will have its old star cast sans Sunil Grover, who is replaced by Bharti Singh and her better half Harsh Limbaachiya. Against this, the channel’s other property Drama Company will be led by Krushna Abhishek, arch rival of Sharma. The other actors in the upcoming show are Sudesh Lehri, Sanket Bhonsle, Ali Asgar, Sugandha Mishra and Mithun Chakraborty.

The new show is expected to be shot in the broadway style and Chakraborty will be the judge. Abhishek is right now busy with Colors’ India Banega Manch, which is nearing its finale. The upcoming show will replace Sabse Bada Kalakar on Sony at weekends 8 pm.

It is learnt that the creative mind behind the new show is Preeti Simon, the same person who was the director and creator of Comedy Nights with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show.

Sony is also geared up and ready to launch Kaun Banega Crorepati to up its offering. The show will be on weekdays, lasting six weeks.

With entries crossing 19.8 million for KBC, this season broke records of previous ones, making it a maximum number of registrations made in the history of KBC. In addition, over 51 lakh entries were received on last day, making it highest single-day registration.
