PHD India’s Ronnie Thomas and Tejas Shah have won the Indian leg of the Young Lions competition in the Media segment which included two rounds. The duo will represent India at the upcoming Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June, where they will compete against 400 finalists to complete a non-profit’s live brief in under 24 hours.
The pair qualified for the finals by using a marriage of two brands, fittingly named “The Biggest Fattest Indian Wedding”, to announce the hypothetical merger of two Indian telecom giants. They then won over the jury in the finals through their use of the 100-rupee bill as a media vehicle to drive awareness of a mobile payment app, as well as a call to download the app.
Commenting on the selection, Susana Tsui, CEO PHD APAC, said, “We believe that a positive and nurturing culture creates business momentum and that the agency with the strongest culture delivers the most innovative media product through its people. This is indeed a moment of pride for the entire network and I wish Ronnie and Tejas, the very best.”
Young Lions is dedicated at helping young talent showcase their creativity at a global platform. National teams of young creative, media and marketing professionals from around the world will get a chance to compete against each other and win the Young Lions title.
