In an endeavour to create awareness and discuss the issues and opportunities concerning India’s natural resources, Network18 recently organised the Global Natural Resources Conclave (GNRC). The two-day event conceptualised by the Special Projects division of the Network was attended by about 1,000 delegates, including participants from over 30 countries and had 20 foreign speakers. The event witnessed industry stalwarts, ministers, global thinkers, industry bodies and think-tanks deliberate upon the present and the future challenges being faced by the sector in India.
Joy Chakraborthy, President, Revenue, TV18 & CEO Forbes India said, “Network18 has been a pioneer in nurturing business communities and has been constantly innovating with new genres of programming that help make business more relevant to different constituencies across the country. In the past, the channel has been an important catalyst in the Indian economy’s growth story. With the response that we got for Global Natural Resources Conclave, we have emerged as the leader in growth-centric and dialog-based programming and content. The conclave that was conceptualised in-house by our brightest minds entailed over six months’ efforts to bring together all the relevant stakeholders under one roof to discuss issues pertaining to the sector. Huge delegate participation and the tremendous response on social media spelt success for the event.”
The initiative received coverage across CNBC-TV18, CNN-News18, CNBC Awaaz, News18 India (International feed), Firstpost.com and Moneycontrol.com.
The social media campaign with the hashtag #GNRC2017 reached more than 16 million users and had generated nearly 1,000 unique tweets. The hashtag trended in India several times during the two-day event. Industry veterans too supported the GNRC initiative on the social media and buzz was created from people like Anil Agarwal, Group Chairman, Vedanta Resources and GoI Ministers including Rajyavardhan Rathore, MoS for Information & Broadcasting and Dharmendra Pradhan, MoS (Independent Charge) for Petroleum & Natural Gas engaging on the topic.
Joy added, “We will continue to channelise our resources and talent towards creating such niche properties and enter newer sectors to initiate fruitful debates. The Special Projects team at Network18 is geared up for the coming year and we look forward to an exciting year as far as events are concerned.”
