Goafest Abby 2017 has recorded the highest number of creative entries with a tally of 3564. The entries closed on February 15, 2017. Last year the Abbys had received 3,446 creative entries. This record has been achieved despite no show by a few agencies who decided to stay away for various excuses.
As BestMediaInfo.com had reported earlier, Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett, Mullen and Lowe Group and Rediffusion Y&R had announced that they would not participate, while McCann was undecided till the end of the entry deadline and finally abstained. According to a report published by The Economic Times earlier, Publicis Communications, the parent company of Leo Burnett, too joined the flock of non-participating agencies.
Ramesh Narayan
Commenting on the record breaking entries this year, Ramesh Narayan, Chairman, Goafest 2017 Awards Governing Council, said, “I was told about a month and a half ago that our economy is sluggish, agency budgets have been cut. Some agencies have not participated. At the end of the day, we see that we have got more entries than what we got last year. It proves that Abby is the truly national and most important creative award.”
In the meantime, the deadline for the media entries that started late has been extended to February 27, 2017.
