Goafest Abbys 2016, the advertising awards that recognize the best in advertising and marketing, has witnessed a 25 per cent growth in entries this year. The awards, organized by the Advertising Club and the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), will be held at a three-day celebratory event in Goa from April 7 to April 9. The venue for the advertising and marketing fraternity's bash this time is the Grand Hyatt, Bambolim in North Goa.
The organizers feel that the rush for entries vindicates the increasing popularity and repute of the awards. Abbys will witness many firsts this year, like the introduction of new categories, i.e. 26: Special Abby (Gender Sensitive) and Category 27: Young Abby. Television films that are based on gender sensitivity can be entered in the Special Abby.
Young Abby is in response to a long felt need of the industry to reward young creatives below the age of 30, who respond to a brief. Two winning Young Creatives will be flown to Cannes, in keeping with Goafest Abby's commitment to the young. New sub- categories have also been added in the Design vertical to broad-base participation in the event.
