Viral Jani, AVP - TV Strategy and Social Media, Times Network, has moved on after a stint of about four and a half years with the network. Jani, who was heading television strategy and social media for Times Now, ET Now and Zoom, is slated to join Twitter India to head TV partnerships. The news has been confirmed by industry sources familiar with the development.
After joining Times Network in October 2010, Jani is credited with making Times Television Network the first broadcast network to use social media seamlessly across marketing and content generation. His social media strategy led Times Now, ET Now and Zoom to become the most engaged brands on social media in their respective genres.
Jani also played a key role in topline growth by implementing empowered decision making for sales planning, big show price premium and deal tracking mechanism, which resulted in 20-30 per cent increase in pricing for Times Now and ET Now. He spearheaded Ad Sales Strategy for Times Now, ET Now and Zoom, contributing to YoY ad sales market share to grow from 30 per cent to 36 per cent for Times Now and 20 per cent to 28 per cent for ET Now over the past four years.
Jani also formulated distribution strategy to seamlessly take the network through the digitisation process.
Prior to joining Times Network, Jani had a short stint at Sahara One where he joined from NDTV Media (now Aidem Ventures). He had spent six years with NDTV Media in strategic planning. Jani started his career with Mudra Communications in 2002 after which he moved to GroupM in a media planning role.
