Zee Media Corporation's (ZMCL) fifth edition of the 'My Earth My Duty' campaign, which addresses the issue of degradation of the environment, has been off to a great start. The campaign is aimed at sensitising and encouraging people to take concrete actions towards mitigating the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
The objective of the campaign this year is to plant at least 10 lakh saplings across the country, involving citizens from all walks of life including children, women and senior citizens.
The campaign comes in the wake of rising concerns about continuous environmental degradation and its adverse impact on human kind. It is a clarion call to everyone to join hands to protect our beloved mother Earth. Concerned with global warming, climate change and also to abolish the effect of environmental hazards that nature is facing due to degradation, the paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) joined hands with Zee Media's 'My Earth My Duty' campaign. BSF, besides providing security along the border areas of the country, has taken up a special initiative to safeguard the environment as well.
Zee Media and BSF have created history by planting more than two lakh saplings in just 30 minutes. The plantation was done across the centers of BSF. The massive drive started on August 19, at 10 AM and ended at 10.30 AM.
Rohit Kumar, VP, Marketing, ZMCL, said, “Zee Media as a responsible media house has been continuing with the 'My Earth My Duty' campaign since last five years. I am happy that 'My Earth My Duty' has surpassed all barriers by completing a mammoth exercise of planting more than two lakh saplings within 30 minutes, thus creating a World Record.”
While addressing eminent personalities present during the plantation campaign, DG, BSF, D K Pathak, said, “We are proud to partner with Zee Media Corporation and wish them luck for this great initiative. Environment does play a pivotal role in our lives and we must take adequate steps to preserve it. BSF is committed to safeguarding the environment along with the country's border.”
Vijaya Ghose, Editor, Limca Book of Records, said, “Zee Media Corporation has entered into the Lima Book of Records twice. They have created history by planting more than two lakh saplings within 30 minutes with the Border Security Force (BSF). We support this initiative of India's largest news network and want support from across genres. We also believe that more corporates should come forward to take up this noble cause to safeguard the environment.”
