IRS 2013: TOI leads in Mumbai; HT is No. 1 in Delhi and NCR

The Times of India remains the No. 1 English daily in Mumbai with an average issue readership of 21.5 lakh followed by Hindustan Times at No. 2 with a readership of 13.62 lakh, according to reports published in the respective newspapers today on the basis of the new Indian Readership Survey (IRS) data announced yesterday.
The Times of India in its Mumbai edition today stated that it has a combined readership of 26.72 lakh in Maharashtra. A separate report in Hindustan Times claimed that as many as seven lakh readers in Mumbai have opted to read HT as their only English newspaper.
The trend is reverse in Delhi where Hindustan Times is a clear leader over The Times of India. According to a report published in the Delhi edition of Hindustan Times today, HT's readership in Delhi is 16.39 lakh, while The Times of India is at 13.94 lakh. HT is ahead of TOI in the National Capital Region as well. HT's Delhi-NCR combined readership stands at 22.65 lakh, while TOI is at 16.51 lakh. “Among the more educated and affluent households (NCCS A, or New Consumer Classification System A), HT has a lead of nearly six lakh readers over TOI,” stated the report.
The report in Hindustan Times has also said that Mint, the financial daily from HT Media, has consolidated its No. 2 position with a readership of 3.1 lakh. The Economic Times remains the No. 1 financial daily with a readership of 7.22 lakh.
