The Moonman, the famed statue of Video Music Awards, gets a Brooklyn makeover. Witness the most anticipated music awards event live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center, New York, on Vh1 on Monday, August 26. This year's Video Music Awards (VMAs) will also mark the 30th anniversary of the show and will become the first major annual awards show to take place in the borough of Brooklyn.
Following the legacy set by VMAs over the past 30 years, the awards night will bring with it a cluster of memorable performances from the music legends. Watch Lady GaGa set the stage on fire with her upcoming song 'Applause' for the very first time along with performances by A-listers Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
Apart from his exceptional performance, Timberlake will also be seen receiving one of the most prestigious awards – The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award – and joining an esteemed list of past recipients that include the King of Pop, Late Michael Jackson, Madonna, R.E.M. and the Beastie Boys.
Leading the nomination pack are music icons Justin Timberlake and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with six nominations each. Leading with second is Bruno Mars with four VMA nominations, while Pink, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Thirty Seconds to Mars have each picked up three nominations. Taylor Swift, Drake, Calvin Harris and FUN are also in the running for multiple VMA Moonman Awards.
Understanding the huge fan following that VMAs enjoy in India, Vh1 has planned a 360-degree marketing campaign for music enthusiasts. Engaging the fans with various initiatives such as the Ticket 2 Ride contest which was recently announced and the 'No Sleep Till Brooklyn' campaign, Vh1 also offers its fans a chance to express their excitement on Twitter with fans worldwide by hash-tagging #VMAsOnVh1. Vh1 has also collaborated with PVR Cinemas, TGIF, Barista café, Crossword Bookstore and Gold's Gyms in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru.
